Olsker 1. vgd. Brøddegård ca. 1628 (Køb)
Sognepræsten Niels Andersen Juul købte i 1628 gården af Joachim Grabau på Simblegård i Klemensker. Gården havde hidtil hørt under "Simblegårdsgodset". Niels Andersen Juul har formentlig ikke boet her på gården, men på Præstegården i Olsker. Året efter solgte han gården til Svend Monsen, se næste. [3]
    • Note(kopieret fra Norman Lee Madsen)

According to Stationsforstander C. Kragh's notes on the family Sode, Niels Andersen Juul was born on the Jylland peninsula. He is possibly the son of Margrethe Jørgensdatter Juul and her husband Anders Pedersen Wers, the "Sognepræst" (clergyman) for Gjerlev-Enslev parishes in Randers county between 1601 and his death in 1631. I know of no evidence to support the assertion that Niels is their son. It seems to be solely based on the fact that ANDERS Pedersen Wers was married to Margrethe Jørgensdatter JUUL of JYLLAND - and thus the speculation that Niels ANDERSEN JUUL from JYLLAND might be their son.

Further, according to Flemming Ørnbøll, the tombstone in Gjerlev Church for Anders Pedersen informs us that he had two wives with whom he had 10 children, namely Kirsten Jensdatter and Maren Andersdatter. The tombstone is worn in some places, but appears to read as follows:

Her vnder ligger begrafven Hederlig Mand H. Anders Pedersøn Guds ords tiener til Gierløv Sogn som lefde i egtskab med sine tvende hvstrver og døde hand [. . .] hans først hvstrv var Erlig og Gvdsfrygtig Qvinde s.Kiersten Jensdatr og [le. . .] aflede 10 børn [. . .] hvn [. . .].

      Which translates to English as:
Hereunder lays buried the Honorable Man Mr. Anders Pedersen servant of the word of God to Gjerlev Parish who lived in marriage with his two wives and died [. . .] his first wife was the Honest and God-fearing Woman blessed Kiersten Jensdatter and [le. . .] begat 10 children [. . .]she [. . .].

According to "Studenterne ved Københavns Universitet 1479-1611" by H.Friis-Petersen (pub. Aarhus, 1942), Niels can be founded in the register for København's Commune in 1603; he had received a scholarship to study and live there - he lived at "Regensen" and was "communieret" in 1603 under the name "Nicolaus Andreæ Julius". In spite of his education he is referred to as "Vir probus, sed indoctus" (righteous, but uneducated) in the visitation of 1616. In 1621 he was doing better, he was preaching the text in the "Matthæus evangeliet, Textus Matth. 9, v. 35, 36, 37"(Gospel of Matthew, chapter 9, verses 35, 36, 37); here he was judged: "Bene docet, omnia ad gloriam dei conferre dona videtur" (well educated, highly regarded and trustworthy).

His first position on Bornholm was as the resident "Kapellan" (curate) for Rønne-Knudsker parish, and also the "Rektor" (rector) for the Latinschool in Rønne. In 1609 he was made curate for Olsker under Pastor Søren Bjerg. After Søren Bjerg's death in 1613 he became the Clergyman (Sognepræst) for Olsker-Allinge parishes in 1614, where he remained until his death in 1635. He married his predecessor's widow, Maren Lauridsdatter, and they are known to have had at least one child, a son named Jørgen Nielsen. On January 14, 1635 he is described as being "probus sed indoctus" (upright but uneducated).

Niels can be found mentioned in "Sognedegn" (deacon) Rasmus Pedersen Ravn's journal: "Borringholms krønike", page 181: "Anno 1635: D. 14de Hujus (Aprilis) døde Hr. Niels Juul, Sognepræst her til St. Ols og Allinge Kirker; havde været Skolemester og Capellan udi Rønne tilforn, vel fortjent af dette Lands Folk; begravet d. 17de hujus" (In the year 1635: the 14th same month (April) died Sir Niels Juul, pastor her in St.Ole's and Allinge churches; was previously the headmaster and curate in Rønne, well regarded by the land's people; buried on the 17th same month).

In 1684 his son, Jørgen Nielsen, submitted a copy of the deed of conveyance for "Birdchedtz Gaardenn" to the Land Registry; the letter had been written by Jochum Grabow on October 2, 1628, when he transferred ownership of 1' Vdg. Olsker, (a.k.a. Birkesbrøddegård, Birkelsgård, Kirkebrøddegård, Brøddegård) to clergyman Niels Andersen Juul. The copy, signed by Jørgen Nielsen, is kept in the State Archives and reads as follows:

      (In the original Danish:)

A large gravestone was erected over Niels Andersen Juul and Maren Lauridsdatter. The stone is decorated with carvings of the four Evangelists and symbols concerning the Resurrection, which are surrounded by ornamental leaf-designs. In the center is the following inscription:

      (In the original Danish:)
"Anno 1635 Den 14. Apriil Døde Haederlig og Vellaerde Mand Hr. Niels Andersøn Sognepræst Til Ols og Allinge Kircker Paa Borringholm. Med Kiere Hustrue Maren Laurits Daatter Som Døde 1642 Den 22. Maji og Nu Begge Hviler i Herren. Gud Give Dennem Med Alle Udvalde En Glaedelig Opstandelse Paa Den Yderste Dag."

The tombstone was placed inside the church in the middle of the floor, and stayed there for many years until the floor had to be replaced; the stone was damaged during its relocation. In 1938 the stone was refurbished, it had been placed outside the church near the bell-tower. (See "Bornholmske Samlinger", volume 28, pages 136-138.)

From "Rasmus Pedersen Ravns Borringholms krønike 1671", Johannes Knudsen, 1926, page 181:
Anno 1635. D. 14 hujus [*] døde Hr. Niels Juul, Sognepræst her til St.Ols og Allinge Kirker; havde været Skolemester og Capellan udi Rønne tilforn, vel fortjent af dette lands folk; begravet d. 17. hujus.
